    Student-Athlete - Basketball, Coach - Basketball

The all-time winningest coach in the history of the FPU women's basketball program, Diane Wiese (formerly Weststeyn) has meant far more to FPU Athletics than records can quantify.

Serving as the head coach from 1995-2005, Wiese led the program to a 180-138 record (.566 winning percentage), two conference championships, four conference runner-up finishes and seven straight seasons with a winning conference record in the NAIA's toughest league, the GSAC.

She was named GSAC coach of the year in 1996 and again in 2002, leading the team to conference titles in both seasons. The 2002 team reached the NAIA national tournament, finishing with a record of 27-8. More importantly, Wiese served as a mentor and leader to hundreds of student-athletes during her time at FPU.

She played basketball for the Sunbirds from 1987-1990, helping lead the team to the 1989 GSAC title on their way to a national tournament appearance. She was team captain in 1989 and 1990 and earned team MVP, All-GSAC and All-District honors as a senior. The Sunbirds posted a record of 61-27 (.693%) during her three seasons as a player, including 27-7 (.794%) in GSAC play. She finished with 755 career points, 520 rebounds and 200 assists. As a senior she was honored with the FPU Senior Athlete of the Year award, as well as the department's Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

Actively involved in her church and in the community, Wiese resigned from coaching in 2005 to become the North Valley Area Director for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and is currently a teacher in Ripon, California. She has overcome battles with cancer on two different occasions, taking the opportunity to share her testimony and be an outspoken inspiration to numerous people and families affected by the disease.
