A two-time NAIA national champion in the 3000m,
Chrisie (Gregory) Pereira was one of the greatest distance runners to come through FPU. She was a three-time All-GSAC performer in cross country and seven-time in track while also being named NAIA Scholar Athlete four times.
After joining the cross country team in 1999, she capped off an impressive freshman year by earning All-GSAC honors in the 1500 and 3000 during track season. She made vast improvements by her sophomore year, earning All-GSAC honors in cross country and taking second place in the 3000 at the GSAC meet in track.
That paved the way for a standout junior season that saw her take third in both the GSAC and NAIA Region championship races in cross country. Then, after taking second at the GSAC meet again the 3000, she entered the NAIA national meet as an underdog but would win the national championship in the event with a time of 10:13.7.
