As a Junior (2021) - Member of the Sunbird Track & Field Team

2019-20:
Indoor- cleared 14-03.25 in pole vault at the Sunshine Open and Combined Events …
 
Outdoor- cleared 14-05.25 in pole vault at the Kim Duyst Invitational … threw 123-03 in javelin at the Kim Duyst Invitational … earned Academic All-PacWest honors …


As a Sophomore (2019) – at the PacWest Championships, earned conference honors with a third-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:20.38)….also scored points for FPU in the pole vault, where he cleared a season-best 4.26m (13-11.75).

As a Freshman (2018) – scored points for FPU at the PacWest Championships with a personal-record-tying clearance of 4.30m (14-01.25) in the pole vault….also cleared 4.30m at the 22nd Rossi Relays earlier in the season....named Academic All-PacWest.

Prior to FPU - Prepped at Sanger High School....spent three years on the varsity team under head coach Clay Manning....scholar-athlete....Apache Character Award winner....earned the Lifetime Award........finished second in the Valley and competed at the California State Championship....had a career best clearance of 14'....also a member of the football and soccer teams....class valedictorian....founder of Bible Study Club (REACH)....rally commissioner.

Personal - Parents are Maribel and Eloy Escareño and Eduardo and Jaime Chavez....has seven siblings named Chris, Bryanna, Emilee, Haylee, Eloy, Ethan and Eric....greatest sports thrill was competing against Olympians in the State meet....chose FPU for the community atmosphere....enjoys eating chicken fettuccine alfredo with broccoli....favorite book is Crazy Love by Francis Chan....enjoys listening to the song Lost? by Kings Kaleidoscope....enjoys reading, playing guitar and playing spike ball as hobbies....attends New Life Community Church in Easton....Nico is a biology major with an emphasis in secondary teaching....has career goals on becoming a high school teacher or doing missionary work.
